The machine starts by helping to form a bag from roll stock. As the process begins, the machine feeds the film over a cone-shaped tube called a forming tube which then shapes the film into the accurate bag size and seals the bottom and the vertical seam to ensure there's no wastage of product. The width of the bag is determined by the forming tube design, while the bagging machine determines the length. An operator can swiftly change the bag width by changing it in a fresh forming tube. Seals come in various shapes and sizes, but lap and fun seals are the most common. The two film edges overlap and is held together in a lap seal, with the back of the top side sealing to the front of the bottom side. The forming tube draws the film edges together to bind the inside surfaces together in a fin seal.
Filing is the next phase in the process which is done by connecting the nagging machine to a multi-head scale or another filing machine such as amultihead weigher. As these two machines are electronically linked, the product automatically gets dropped into the bag as soon as it's ready.
The final step involves the sealing and finishing of the product once it is inside it. The top of the bag gets sealed, and the bag is completed and cuts away. It leads to the top seal on the first evil becoming the bottom of the following bad, and the process repeats itself with all the products. During the final sealing process, it is likely that the bag gets filled with air from a blower or an inert gas supply such as nitrogen. This process is done to help reduce the crushing of fragile products such as biscuits. The added benefit is the inert has, which helps drive out oxygen and prevents the growth of any bacteria or fungus that could damage the product quality. The final product finish is the hold punching used for retailing a product that is done after the Top seal is made.
